Litter Clean-up Supplies:  Are you organizing a litter clean-up?  Please contact the Bath County Administrator's office at 540-839-7221 to obtain bags, vests, pickers and gloves. 

The County of Bath is unable to recycle glass at this time. 

Services are provided by a transfer station and conveniently place green box collection sites.

The transfer station is located at 1175 Virginia Avenue, in Hot Springs. Local residents may dispose of white goods, tires, furniture, household solid waste and recyclable materials for no cost. 

Solid waste convenience sites are located at:

  • Transfer Station located at 1175 Virginia Avenue, Hot Springs.
  • Millboro Springs on Route 42, near the intersection of Route 39.
  • Ashwood is located on the lower lot, behind the Parks and Recreation Building on Panther Drive
  • West Warm Springs is located on Route 39, approximately one mile from the intersection of Route 39/220.

Stream Line Recycling  Containers are available at :

  • Millboro Spring on Route 42, near the intersection of Route 39.*
  • Ashwood is located on the lower lot, behind the Parks and Recreation Building on Panther Drive.
  • West Warm Springs is located on Route 39, approximately one mile from the intersection of Route 39/220.
  • Valley Supermarket located Main Street, Mitchelltown.

Single Stream recycling includes cardboard, mixed paper, type I and II plastics, tin, aluminum and steel used for beverage containers.  These products may be deposited in the recycling containers together without separation.  GUIDELINES:  no glass-we are unable to recycle glass at this time. Please DO NOT dispose of glass in the recycling containers this will cause the entire container to be rejected.  No food waste, please deposit clean materials only.

The following materials are collected for recycling: aluminum, tin cans, cardboard, newspaper and mixed paper.  Tires are recycled at no cost to residents of Bath County and may be disposed of at the Transfer Station.

Contractors: 
All construction debris including new construction, renovation, and demolition for which a building permit is required, shall be taken to Peter's Mountain Landfill.  Peter's Mountain Landfill requires notification 24 hours in advance for each load to insure they can accommodate the volume that is being brought in and can be contacted at (540) 962-6317. Contractors and residents with building permits must present a copy of their permit card in order to avoid being charged for tonnage.  Peter's Mountain Landfill cannot accept tractor trailer loads. Peter's Mountain Landfill is located on Route 600, Covington, VA - South of Callaghan and accepts refuse Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Please note all Demolition debris will be bill at a rate of $88.13 per ton by the County of Bath. Inert material such as concert, brick, stone and pavement can be disposed of at the Bath County Transfer Station at no cost.  Please contact the Transfer Station at (540) 839-7213 regarding inert materials.
